Misleading Marketing: Why Cute Dogs Won’t Sell Your Product
Once upon a time I was scrolling through Pinterest and I stopped to admire a lovely picture of a very cute dog. Thinking that the link might bring me the…
Effective marketing for your small business is vital if you want to attract new customers, maintain existing relationships, and re-attract previous buyers.
The kind of marketing you use will depend on a number of factors, including your budget, available time, audience, and the items or services you’re selling. Sometimes you’ll need to experiment a little to find what works best for you.
Fortunately, there are lots of different options out there, and my guides offer helpful marketing tips for small businesses, micro businesses and sole traders. Some require a small budget, while others are free. All will take time to show their results, so remember to be patient and don’t get downhearted if you don’t see huge changes straight away.
Here are just some of the best ways to market your small business:
Building your own mailing list means that you have a collection of customers and potential customers who have already indicated that they’re interested in your product or service. No one can take them away from you or prevent them seeing your newsletters other than you. So newsletters are a powerful way of reaching out directly to an already engaged audience.
There are so many social media platforms out there now that you can sometimes become overwhelmed. Remember, though, that it’s better to do one well, than to do all of them badly. Chances are, too, that your ideal client isn’t on all of the platforms anyway, so trying to show up on every single one can be a time-wasting mistake.
Instead, focus on learning the demographics of the platforms, getting to know your own audience, and finding out where your potential customers are. That way, you can focus on the social media platforms that are going to get you the best results.
