Everyone wants to find a little more time in their day, and being more productive in your small business and your personal life can really help you free up time.

Productivity Tools

I love a good tool or two to help me be more productive, and there are plenty out there to choose from. I try not to experiment too much, otherwise I spend more time testing new tools rather than using them. However, I do have some favourites and I’m always sharing my top ones.

There are plenty of options out there to suit the way you work and what you need. I’ll let you know my favourite productivity tools here and how they can also help. You can also find lots of lists and suggestions for every type of support you might need. Just remember not to overdo it: try and find a small handful of tools that will help you, rather than utilising dozens of different ones for every tiny task.

Productivity Habits

Good productivity habits can be hard to build into your daily life, but it’s worth making the effort. When you start getting into the swing of such habits, they become so natural that you’ll hardly know you’re doing them.

Where possible, it’s also worth adjusting your work schedule to suit your most productive times of day. If, like me, you’re a morning person, you might assign more complex tasks to the early hours of the day. Then you can leave the afternoon for more monotonous jobs that don’t require lots of brain power.

What Works for You

However you improve productivity for yourself and your small business, find what works for you and stick to it. If someone you speak to swears by the Pomodoro technique, but you find it does nothing for you, cast it aside. Similarly, if a post on the internet derides using a Bullet Journal as a waste of time, but you’ve found it to be revelationary, that’s good too! Our brains all work differently, and finding the perfect fit is very much a personal thing.
