Your website is one of your best marketing tools. While some small businesses don’t feel the need to have one, in most cases, it’s useful to have an online presence with a website.

Your website can be as big or as small as suits your business. A one-pager explaining who you are and how to get in touch might be enough. If you have an online store, on the other hand, chances are you’ll require a bigger site.

DIY or Professional Websites?

It’s possible to – fairly easily – create your own website with platforms such as Weebly, Wordpress or Wix. If you’re just starting out, or only need a very basic website, then this option is perhaps suitable for you.

However, if you receive a lot of traffic, have complex website needs, are quickly growing, or just want a more professional look, then the benefits of a professional website designer are numerous. They’ll not only work with you to provide a fully-functioning website, they can keep a sharp eye on it to deal with any problems that may arise, and can continually improve it as best practices evolve. Though it can seem pricey at first, a professional website is well worth the cost in most instances.

Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation (commonly referred to as SEO) is the method of improving your website for a better user experience. This will also help you rank higher in the results of search engines such as Google and Bing.

Though SEO is a large and complex topic, there are a number of basic things you can do yourself to boost your website rankings.
